Companies in California are generating so much solar energy, and companies in other states are getting paid.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the state was forced to adopt an arrangement that “avoids overloading its own power line”.
Economist Severin Borenstein, a professor at the University of California at Berkeley's Haas School of Business, said that this does not necessarily mean that we "make money."
“But this may indicate that there are serious problems with the way we run the grid and the way we make investment decisions.”
